Hall Green Piano

About me

Musical background:

I currently hold Grade 8 (Distinction) Classical Piano and DipLCM(TD) which is a diploma from the London College of Music in piano teaching. In addition I have Grade 6 Jazz Piano (Distinction) and Grade 6 Theory of Music (Distinction) and am now working towards further qualifications with well respected local teacher Chris Rolinson.  I have been granted associate membership of the European Piano Teachers Association (EPTA) and I also hold a current DBS certificate.
I have learnt piano as an adult (in my 30s), but have been involved with music for 25 years. I learnt clarinet at school and played with a local wind band and also a swing jazz band as well playing in the orchestra for local amateur dramatics productions. More recently I took up the flute and have now gained grade 8 in that instrument.

My current musical studies are in the area of composition. I have already written several pieces for 4 part choir which have been performed locally and I hope eventually to put together a protfolio for a composition qualification.
I also enjoy singing. I have sung and written music as part of a local electro-pop group for many years and also currently sing with Hall Green Choral Society and Shirley Fellowship Singers.
General background:
I am originally from Heywood in Lancashire and came to Birmingham in 1993 to study Physics at Birmingham University. I stayed :o)
